Ecocity World Summit 2017, Melbourne

Join us at the Ecocity World Summit 2017 to be held in Melbourne, Australia from 12-14 July 2017.

The Ecocity Summit series, held every two years since 1990, has developed into one of the most globally significant forums for addressing the complex challenges facing humanity in a rapidly urbanising world.

Ecocity 2017: Changing Cities: Resilience and Transformations will bring together a diverse mix of researchers, policy makers and citizens with a common focus on identifying and creating pathways to more sustainable, resilient and equitable cities.

The Summit will address the unprecedented ecological, social change to political and economic challenges – and opportunities – facing the world’s cities through a focus on six major themes:

Climate and energy transformations
Food and water security
Smart cities for people
Healthy and caring cities
Culturally vibrant cities
Governance, infrastructure 
and finance
The program will be lead by an outstanding array of Keynote Speakers including:

Harriet Bulkeley
Leading urban climate governance scholar and author – University of Durham

Ronan Dantec
French Senator leading city and civil society action on global climate responses

Katherine Gibson
Internationally renowned for her work on alternative economic paradigms for cities and regions – Western Sydney University

Prolific writer on global urbanisation, author of “The New Urban Question”

Aromar Revi
Global urban thought leader and practitioner – Director Indian Institute for Human Settlements

Sharon Zukin
Acclaimed US commentator on urban cultural, economic and immigration challenges – Brooklyn College
Call for Contributions to the Program are now open. Consider submitting an online abstract for the Academic or City Practices Tracks and play an active role in Ecocity 2017.

Academic contributions will be double peer reviewed whilst the City Practices Track is aimed at city, government and community practitioners.
